Dalam penulisan sejarah selama ini kita rupanya telah mengabaikan sejarah lokal. Dalam dunia pendidikan, misalnya, kurikulum sejarah kita dari waktu ke waktu cenderung hanya menampilkan sejarah nasionalini pun cenderung dijadikan legitimasi kekuasaan. Hal ini niscaya sangat disayangkan karena banyak peristiwa lokal yang bernilai edukatif, inspiratif, dan rekreatif. Tanpa pengetahuan tentang sejarah lokal, kita sebagai bangsa tidak akan menyadari realitas kebangsaan yang sesungguhnya. Tepatlah pernyataan Taufik Abdullah bahwa selama 60 tahun lebih telah terjadi kebutaan terhadap realitas lokal. Untuk itu, upaya menggalakkan penelitian dan penulisan sejarah lokal merupakan suatu hal yang mendesak dan urgen, apalagi jika ditinjau dari upaya pembangunan karakter bangsa.
Buku ini hadir dalam upaya menjawab urgensi seperti itu. Di dalamnya pembaca akan mendapati hal-hal elementer dan penting untuk memahami ilmu sejarah lokal. Misalnya konsep sejarah lokal, metode, unit-unit historis, relasi sejarah lokal dan Sejarah Nasional Indonesia (SNI), sumbangan sejarah lokal, historiografi tradisional, topik, metode, corak-corak studi sejarah lokal. Diberikan pula perspektif ke masa depan melalui materi tentang tantangan dan masa depan sejarah lokal. Materi-materi tersebut telah melalui proses pengujian dan penyempurnaan karena disusun dari bahan ajar yang telah digunakan pada mata kuliah sejarah lokal selama kurang lebih 23 tahun. Selain itu, penyusunnya adalah penulis spesialis sejarah lokal yang dengan tekun melakukan penelitian mengenai sejarah lokal Banyumas.
Pusat Bahasa UMP, Language Institution which provides language services for public, is always trying to give the best training, testing or translation in English or other languages. Started at Tuesday, December 2nd 2014, Language Center (LC) gives Conversation Class training for UMP’s staff, here is intended for laboratory assistants.
All the staffs here are invited to get the training with 14 meeting training for the classes. However, it can be continued to the next level suiting to their competence.
For the first batch, it is attended by 11 participants coming from Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Engineering faculty and Medical faculty, but it is expected that more participants, here is the laboratory assistants would join the training. The class is done in the microteaching room, Integrated Laboratory building twice in a weed with the assistance of two best teachers from Pusat Bahasa.
The purpose of the training is to set up the readiness of the staff (laboratory assistance) in facing World Class University (WCU), with the needs that their curriculum and teaching assistance require English much. The book references and laboratory equipment prove that the English is so urgently needed when they are doing their job. Moreover, some of faculties in UMP (esp. biology, engineering etc.) are often to invite guess lecturer from native English, it makes the English communication should be done as the only language to transfer the knowledge.
The university is aware to the importance of English; all the campus community such as lecturers, staff, and students should master the English as a matter of communication. Therefore, we keep trying to facilitate all elements in UMP becoming internationally recognized. (ald/PB)
